About Mr. Trainer, RN, MA

Mr. Trainer was born on 10 September 1952 and raised in South Philadelphia. After graduating from South Philadelphia High School in June 1971 he entered the United States Air Force as a Communications Center Specialist. After multiple overseas duty assignments during the Vietnam era, Mr. Trainer cross-trained as a Urological Surgical Technician at March AFB, California. While on active duty, Mr. Trainer successfully challenged the California State Board Examination and moon-lighted as a License Vocational Nurse at both Riverside Community and Parkview Community Hospitals in Riverside, California in both the Emergency Room and Coronary and Medical Intensive Care units. After serving on active duty with the USAF from 1971-1981, Mr. Trainer attended Riverside City College earning his Registered Nursing degree and was named honor graduate during the same.
After attaining his RN, Mr. Trainer re-entered the United States Air Force Reserve as a commissioned officer with the 68th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Norton AFB, California as a Flight Nurse. From 1984 until 2001 Mr. Trainer served as a Flight Nurse Instructor, then as a Flight Nurse Examiner with both the 68th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Norton AFB, California and the 442nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at March AFB, California. During his tenure with the USAFR, Mr. Trainer also earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in History and Education, with a Minor in Spanish at the University of California, Riverside, USAF Air University, Maxwell AFB, Alabama, and Azusa Pacific University, Azusa, California. Air Force Flight Nursing enabled Mr. Trainer to tour-the-world serving in various operations including operations in South West Asia(Desert Storm), Central America, Europe and Asia. His last assignment was to the USAF Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado as a liaison officer assisting high school seniors in their quest for acceptance to the United States Air Force Academy. Mr. Trainer retired as a Major in the USAFR on 14 January 2005 after a total of 30 years of military service. He is most greatful to his best-friend Lt. Col. Frank Correa for his long-standing friendship during many difficult opperations throughout the years.
Mr. Trainer has served as a U.S. History teacher with the Murrieta Valley Unified School district since 1993 and has been named Teacher of the Year twice during his tenure and awarded the Crystal Apple Award in June, 2007. A specialist in Advanced Placement U.S. History, Mr. Trainer still enjoys the classroom environment with his eleventh grade students. He has served in various capacities including Lead Teacher of the MVHS Social Science Department for 9 years, DBQ coordinator for the MVUSD, and a founding member of the PAR/BTSA Board for the MVUSD for 6 years. Mr. Trainer is married to Monica Hayes Trainer a former professional volleyball player on the European circuit in Switzerland and Italy, and a current Division I NCAA coach in volleyball at the University of California, Riverside. They have one daughter, Beverly who is married and has three children. Mr. Trainer and his wife attend Calvary Chapel Murrieta where he is an active member and serves on the Calvary Chapel Murrieta School Board.
